Out-of-State Scholarships provide an outstanding opportunity for highly accomplished students from outside California to fund their UCLA education. Alumni support groups in Boston, Chicago, Hawaii, New York and Oregon sponsored competitions last year.
Out-of-State Scholarships are awarded by UCLA alumni networks throughout the country. Applications are mailed to qualified students after they have been accepted to UCLA. These scholarships are initially awarded through an application screening and interview process. The second-, third- and fourth-year scholarship payments are awarded though a Renewal Scholarship.
Eligible applicants who filed their Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) forms with UCLA by May 1 and who reside in participating regions automatically will be mailed applications in May. Each out-of-state alumni network sets its own application deadline and interview schedule. The application packets include a cover sheet, instructions and application form. Pay close attention to the instructions; incorrectly completed or incomplete applications are not processed. Please complete all pages and return them for filing. The Alumni Association does not contact applicants who submit incomplete applications.

Approximately 64% of UCLA undergrads receive financial aid of some type. According to a recent report in U.S. News & Word Report, among the nation's 50 top universities UCLA has the largest proportion of undergraduates receiving federal Pell Grants for students from low-income families.
