The UCLA Black Alumni Association and its various scholarships, funds, and events are powered by the generous contributions of our alumni, industry partners, and friends of the university. Your continued support enables us to assist high-achieving students in managing the ever-increasing costs of college tuition. You can also contribute to our network operations fund, which ensures we can continue to provide programs and opportunities for alumni and students to connect and build community.

UBAA Winston C. Doby legacy scholarship fund

Through the efforts of former Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, Winston C. Doby ’63, M.A. ’72, Ed.D. ’74, and since 2007, over 1,000 donors have participated in an effort that has raised nearly 15 million dollars. Over 1,100 students have benefited from this effort receiving scholarships ranging from a one-year scholarship of $1,000 to multi-year scholarships of up to $40,000. This effort has resulted in an increase in the admit numbers of students who have supported the advancement of the African American community through their service coming to UCLA since the devastating decrease in enrollment as a result of CA Proposition 209.

UBAA has partnered with the California Community Foundation to manage this scholarship fund. Through this partnership, you may make a single or recurring contribution to support this effort.

UBAA Scholarship fund (endowed)

By giving to this scholarship fund, you are continuing our legacy of supporting students. Contributions to this fund are invested with The UCLA Foundation, and guaranteed, annual scholarships are awarded to new, continuing and transfer undergraduate students at UCLA who have distinguished themselves academically and have demonstrated a history of community service.

The UCLA Black Alumni Association aims to foster relationships between alumni and current UCLA students. With a focus on personal and professional development, our goal is to support students in exploring ways to maximize their UCLA experience and prepare for the future.
