From UCLA to leading national efforts in education, Peter Taylor (Bruin story since ’80) has dedicated his career to expanding opportunity, fostering equity, and driving meaningful change. As the former President of ECMC Foundation, he led over $130 million in investments to improve college success and career readiness for underserved students. His purpose-driven leadership continues to shape the future of education and workforce development.

Peter’s commitment to education as a catalyst for change is deeply personal. Inspired by his father’s work integrating California schools, he has spent decades championing access and success in higher education. He served as CFO of the UC System, overseeing financial strategy for one of the largest public university systems, and was appointed by Governor Jerry Brown to the CSU Board of Trustees, ensuring policies support student success.

Beyond education, Peter has made an impact through board leadership with Edison International, Pacific Life, Kaiser Family Foundation, and The Ralph M. Parsons Foundation. A dedicated Bruin, he has served as President of the UCLA Alumni Association (1996-98) and as a UC Board of Regents representative, continually giving back to the community that shaped him.

His guiding principle? “The first step in making a difference is showing up.” Through his leadership, advocacy, and passion for career and technical education (CTE), Peter is ensuring that future generations have the tools to succeed.
