Cassie Craun Ferguson ’99, a pediatric emergency medicine physician and professor of pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin, recently published her first book, “The Only Life You Could Save: Becoming a Doctor. Staying Human,” exploring how physicians and other health professionals can preserve their humanity throughout training and practice. The book combines evidence from psychology, neuroscience and medical education with stories from her own experiences caring for patients and teaching medical students.

Ferguson earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and her M.D. from The Medical College of Wisconsin.
