Audrey Wells, M.F.A. '89Screenwriter and director Audrey Wells, M.F.A. ’89, whose credits include "Under The Tuscan Sun," "Guinevere" and last-year's "A Dog's Purpose," passed away Oct. 4 after a five-year battle with cancer. She was 58.

Wells’ latest film, "The Hate You Give," arrived in theaters the following day.

Wells’ other screenwriting credits include "The Truth About Cats & Dogs," "George of the Jungle," "The Kid," "Shall We Dance" and "The Game Plan" She also wrote the animated feature "Over the Moon," which is currently in production at Netflix, and an episode of "Modern Love" for Amazon, which shoots this month.

Born in San Francisco, Wells received her B.A. degree from U.C. Berkeley in 1981. Her early career featured stints as a disc jockey at a jazz radio station in San Francisco as well as at public radio stations in Alaska.

Wells is survived by her husband Brian and daughter Tatiana, who were at her side when she passed.
