Carina Salazar '00
In an email to staff, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Partnerships Frank Wada announced that Carina Salazar '00 has been appointed executive director for career and immersive experiences:
I am excited to announce that Carina Salazar has been selected to serve as UCLA's Executive Director for Career and Immersive Experiences effectively immediately. This position provides direct leadership for the Career Center and oversight for First to Go and the Transfer Student Center
Carina, a proud UCLA alumni who was a transfer and first-generation student herself, brings over 23 years of caring, thoughtful, and supportive student service and leadership experiences to this critical role for the Career Center, First to Go, and Transfer Student Center team. Carina's passion to help UCLA students reach their personal and professional aspirations runs deep from her time supporting students as an AAP counselor for 17 years to serving as an effective leader over the last 6 years in various roles with the Career Center, Transfer Student Center, and Bruin Resource Center.
Carina's abilities to develop strong relationships and collaborations with staff, faculty, administrators, and students across the campus has enabled her and her teams to deliver innovative programs and initiatives over the years as well as engage in efforts to enhance student access and participation with campus services and information. Her expert guidance and skills are regularly requested to speak at events and to serve on various student and staff workgroups and committees.
I would like to thank the search committee (Gloria Ko, Jasmin Lopez, Kristen McKinney, Wes Uehara, and Mick Deluca who served as chair) for their insightful contributions and efforts throughout the recruitment process. I also appreciate many of you who engaged with the on-campus interview process during a very busy time of the year.
Carina and I look forward to working in partnership with you and your teams as we continue our collaborative efforts to advance student success and excellence.
