Charleen “Sharkie” Boehnert-Zartman '73

As a former Bruin athlete, playing volleyball and being a member of the first National Championship Team in 1972, Charleen “Sharkie” Boehnert-Zartman '73 learned many lessons about how competition can be applicable to everyday life. In her book, “Take on Aging as a Sport: The Athletic Approach to Aging,” she takes some of those lessons and training tips to apply them to aging. Instead of viewing aging as an inevitable period of decline, Boehnert-Zartman challenges her audience to "get off the bench, put on their helmets and get into the game."
