Darryl F. Johnson '70
2016 University Service Award recipient Darryl F. Johnson '70 passed away unexpectedly March 3 in Carson, at age 69.
Johnson attended UCLA on full ROTC scholarship, serving as Bruin Brigade Commander while majoring in psychology. Following his active duty in the army, in which he rose to the rank of colonel, Johnson worked at Hughes Aircraft Company, where he was a material program administrator and laboratory manager before retiring as executive in charge of enterprise services in 2003. A dedicated Bruin, he served on many boards and committees at UCLA, including the Foundation Board of Directors, the Alumni Association Board, the Centennial Campaign Cabinet, the Athletic Hall of Fame Committee and the Bruin Caucus Council.
In addition to his undergraduate degree, Johnson earned a certificate from the Anderson Executive Program as well as an M.A. in public administration from Golden Gate University.
