David Bustamante '77
In 2016, Bruin David Bustamante joined the faculty of Santiago Canyon College as an adjunct professor of U.S. History. A native of the Inglewood area of Los Angeles, California, Bustamante attended UCLA where he was an Alumni Scholar, played for the UCLA soccer team and worked at the Rieber Hall front desk. He was also a resident assistant at Hedrick Hall. Bustamante spent his junior year abroad at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid and, after four years as a park ranger in the U.S. National Park Service, he entered John Hopkins' graduate program in International Relations. Before graduating, he was accepted into the U.S. Foreign Service as a Media and Cultural Officer in Western Europe and Latin America until his retirement in 2008. Bustamante, his wife Karen and their two sons returned to Southern California where he has volunteered with the Morningside High School Alumni Association, Western Association of Schools and Colleges, Chapman University and Santiago Canyon College.
