David Robert McKenzie '78
David Robert McKenzie ‘78 has written and had published “The Chair,” a saga of twenty-two generations of American women from the same family whose lineage, ancestors and descendants, are tracked over five hundred years — mothers and their daughters, all whose first names begin with the cursive letter “L” and a timeless pine, “The Chair,” from North Carolina. The two volume set includes "Volume I: Lightning, Thunder, & Glory" and "Volume II: Faith, Hope, & Love."
McKenzie, who received his B.A. in political science, has traveled all over the country and around the world. While sitting at Royce Hall as an undergraduate, looking across the Quad at Powell Library, he thought one day he would write a book that would be placed on the shelves in Powell Hall and a student would pick it up and read it and be inspired to follow their dreams.
"The Chair Volume III: Seven, Eight, & Nine" is anticipated to be published this coming autumn.
McKenzie was on the UCLA Football team in 1973 and 1974. He was recently an NFL agent, some of his Bruin clients including Ryan Taylor, Nick Ekbatani and Sean Westgate.
McKenzie received an M.A. from the University of Houston in 1988 in public administration & urban planning. He worked at NASA, Pricewaterhouse Coopers and Oppenheimer & Company.
