Erin M. Foley '06, Ph.D.Erin M. Foley '06, Ph.D., a patent attorney with experience in strategic intellectual property creation and counseling in the life sciences space, recently joined the firm Foley Hoag LLP as counsel in the Intellectual Property Department and is a member of the Patent Prosecution, Strategy & Management and PTAB Proceedings practices.

Foley, who previously spent several years in house at Novartis, works at the intersection of law, business and science to elevate pre-clinical, clinical-stage and commercial projects. Her practice focuses on devising and implementing global patent and exclusivity strategies for early-stage, mid-sized and commercial companies across life sciences sectors, including gene editing, gene therapy, viral vector engineering, RNA-based therapies, monoclonal antibodies, CAR-T therapies, stem cell therapies, vaccines, antimicrobial therapies, DNA sequencing and food science.

A biochemistry major at UCLA, Foley earned her Ph.D. at UC San Diego in 2012 and her J.D. at Georgetown University Law Center in 2016.
