George Mount ’19 passed away suddenly on Sunday, April 10, at age 25. He was remembered by Alexandra (Albers) Ashdown, whose daughter attended UCLA with Mount, as “an enthusiastic and committed student at UCLA, which he loved — he played on the Bruin Rugby team and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. The entire community of which he was part of at UCLA are in mourning for this unique and wonderful person.”

On his LinkedIn page, Mount wrote about his time in Sigma Phi Epsilon. “I was elected as the houses social chair. This involved planning and organising social and philanthropy events for the house. Further more, this position helped me improve communication skills by organising and collaborating with different fraternities and peer groups.”

Prior to arriving at UCLA, Mount had been an event promoter in London, England, and co-founder of a sports nutrition company.

A Facebook group has been created to honor Mount, a sociology major whose parents live in the United Kingdom. The introductory message reads, “As many of you are now aware, George sadly passed away on Sunday 10th April. He added so much fun and laughter to our lives and he will forever be in our memories.

“With that, we wanted to create a space where we could openly talk about George and share the countless memories we have of him. This is a page where you can share your thoughts, photos, videos and any memories you may have.

“We hope that this page can help you get over the loss of our dear friend. If you ever miss him and find you are struggling, we hope that you can come to this page and find solace in the the fact that he was so loved by so many.”
