Heerak Christian Kim, M.A. '91, was elected as the treasurer of the UCLA Alumni Network for the Washington, DC, area (which includes Washington, DC, northern Virginia, and southern Maryland) for the 2019-2020 term. Kim had served as a board member for the network, for the previous two years, during which time he focused primarily on running cultural events programs, such as opportunities for UCLA Alumni in area to attend ballet and opera performances.

Kim has participated in UCLA Bruin Bound for the past two years and has worked at recruiting qualified high school students from Washington, DC, Virginia, and Maryland. He has also served to help UCLA Undergraduate Admission and Financial Aid by reading applications for UCLA freshman alumni scholarships and community college transfer alumni scholarships.

As the newly elected treasurer of the UCLA Alumni Network of Washington, DC, Kim worked at the registration table for the 2019 UCLA Send Off picnic for new UCLA freshmen (for fall semester, 2019) on July 13 at Turkey Thicket Recreation Center in Washington, DC. He reports that the network's first event with the new executive board was a complete success.
