Hope Woods Gleason III, MBA '82
Hope Woods Gleason III, MBA '82, of London, England, and Charlottesville, VA, passed away Feb. 17 after a brief illness. He was 69.
A Charlottesville native, Woods was born June 13, 1948, at UVA hospital and graduated, at the top of his class, from Albemarle High School. He went on to receive an undergraduate degree from Davidson College and a law degree from University of Virginia Law School before earning his management degree at UCLA. He also attended Paris Sorbonne University.
Gleason’s work life included teaching police officers in Atlanta, GA, and working for a senator on Capitol Hill. He also served in the U.S. Army, rising to the rank of captain. After graduating from UCLA, he joined an international consulting firm specializing in the film industry. This job eventually led to a posting in London, where he stayed for the remainder of his working career.
Gleason was preceded in death by his parents, Hope Woods "Bootie" Gleason and Dorothy Williams "Ditty" Gleason. He is survived by a brothers Christopher B. Gleason of Charlottesville and Gregory W. Gleason (Jerrilynn) of Virginia Beach, VA; nephew Shawn G. Gleason of Denver, CO; and niece Lauren E. Gleason of Richmond, VA.
