Ivan Lee '21
Ivan Lee '21 was chosen by the Knowles Teacher Initiative as a member of its 2024 Cohort of Teaching Fellows. This year, 31 promising high school mathematics and science teachers who are just beginning their careers were awarded Knowles Teaching Fellowships.
Lee started his first year of teaching at Del Mar High School, San Jose, California, in the 2024-25 academic year.
After receiving his bachelor of science degree in biochemistry, Lee earned a master's degree in
education from Stanford University in 2024. Before becoming a teacher, he worked in EdTech at an adaptive learning software company, ALEKS, for two years. He worked in their chemistry department, adapting organic chemistry textbook content into their platform, writing problems and doing quality control checks on coded problems.
The Knowles Teacher Initiative is a nonprofit organization that supports a national network of mathematics and science teachers who are collaborative, innovative leaders improving education for all students in the United States. They strive to create an educational system that is led by teachers who are equipped to solve difficult problems and respond to local challenges in order to serve all of our nation’s students.
The Knowles Teaching Fellows Program — the Foundation’s signature program — is a comprehensive program that supports early-career, high school mathematics and science teachers in their efforts to develop teaching expertise and lead from the classroom.
