A book co-edited by Jenny Banh ’98, Ph.D. “American Chinese Restaurant: Society, Culture and Consumption” (Routledge 2019), has been published. The book provides ethnographic insights on small family businesses, struggling immigrant parents, and kids working, living, and growing up in an American Chinese restaurant.
Banh majored in anthropology at UCLA, earned an M.A. in cultural studies with a public policy emphasis at Claremont Graduate University and a Ph.D. in anthropology at UC Riverside. She is an assistant professor of anthropology and Asian American studies at California State University Fresno and was honored as a 2019 American Anthropology Association leadership fellow.
