Julie Wei ’05 has passed away from cancer at age 34 after fighting the disease for nearly three years. A San Francisco native, Wei was a double major in communications and political science at UCLA, and went on to earn a J.D. degree from the UC Davis School of Law in 2008. She was a real estate and land use attorney at McGuireWoods LLP in Century City, where she was a zealous advocate for her clients and was also dedicated to pro bono work.
Wei was active in the Food from the Bar program for the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, and also served as an alumni host for UCLA’s Dinner for 12 Strangers. During her illness, Wei continued to work and travel the world, stopping only in September of this year to focus on her health, family, and friends. She is survived by her mother, father, and brothers Eric and Gary.
