Kenneth Iversen '59
Kenneth Iversen '59, a devoted Bruin, passed away March 31, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. Iversen did his best to instill the values of UCLA, and especially John Wooden's code of ethics, into the lives of his family, as reported by his son Robert.
Robert stated, “…we were taught ‘to love our fellow man sincerely.’ It was not until later in my adulthood when I read the Wooden books I was given as a child [by my father], that I realized how much John wooden and UCLA played a part in my life.”
He continued, “My father’s selfless sense of parenting has always been the guiding rod by which I have strove to be a father. Whether it be the PTA booster club president or our baseball, football and soccer coach, my dad always gave, and continues to give, everything he could to his family and his community.”
Iversen was treated at the Ronald Regan UCLA Medical Center. Because of his treatment at UCLA, Iversen was able to live a while longer and his family could “enjoy more of him and his wisdom.”
