The Luxe Residential Excellence in Design Awards recognize and honor excellence, innovation and the best residential interior design, architecture and landscape architecture projects across the country.

Kriste Michelini '88 is a San Francisco Bay Area interior designer and founder of Kriste Michelini Interiors, known for classic, contemporary interiors that are both well-edited and timeless.

The design firm’s winning project, "Classic California Retreat," has an elegant and timeless interior, thoughtfully planned for a family of six. Located in Danville, Calif., the 7,500 square-foot residence showcases Kriste Michelini Interiors’ ability to design large-scale residential projects that focus on form and function, complete with classic details and custom elements.

Prior to establishing her design studio in 2002, Michelini spent over 10 years in the business world, first working in commercial real estate sales for Newmark Cornish & Carey and then working at a senior level for Intuit. Michelini lives in Alamo, CA with her husband, Dan. They are parents to three children, Andie (21), Matthew (18) and Mark (16).

Michelini has earned numerous accolades from the design community, including being named one of Traditional Home’s 2014 “New Trads,” a group of emerging designers redefining the traditional landscape. The studio has been honored with the Houzz 2019 “Best of Design” and “Best of Customer Service” awards. Her work has also been featured by California Home + Design, Traditional Home, Martha Stewart Living, Better Homes & Gardens, Lonny, Rue, Remodelista and more.

Michelini majored in political science at UCLA.
