Lewis Leeburg ’54, MBA ’64, Ph.D. ’71Lewis "Lew" Leeburg '54, MBA '64, Ph.D. '71, passed away peacefully on April 14 at age 85. Born in Kansas, Leeburg came to Los Angeles with his parents as a child and later relocated to Laguna Niguel with his family. He held three degrees from his beloved UCLA, where he served as ASUCLA Student Body President, class of 1954. After a 31-year career with IBM, he returned to UCLA as a faculty member and co-founder of the Information Systems Associates, a UCLA-sponsored organization that is dedicated to the effective management and understanding of information systems and the effective leadership of the information technology functions.

Some years ago, Leeburg shared his UCLA memories with the Alumni Association. In the article, he wrote, "The opportunities made available to me by attending UCLA were a host of student government positions, including freshman class president, Spring Sing co-chair, Associated Men student president, and ASUCLA president. I had frequent interactions with students, faculty, campus guests and University administrators. There were also great classes and inspiring teachers. All of that led to a great career with IBM, which enabled me to bring about $20 million of IBM equipment to the campus over the span of 25 years. Also, my desire to stay near UCLA led to my pursuit of an M.B.A. and Ph.D. degree in management, while serving on numerous boards and committees, including the Alumni Association board several times and the UCLA Foundation board for seven years."

Leeburg was married to Marilyn "Nonnie" Leeburg for 63 years, and is survived by children Lynn, Karen, John and Robert; sons-in-law Jorge and Rick; daughter-in-law Cassidy; and grandchildren Anya, Nadia, Eric, Brian and Kelsey.
