Mia Wenjen, MBA '93

The newest picture book by Mia Wenjen, MBA '93, "We Sing From the Heart," was released in October.

"It's about Simon Tam's 8-year journey to trademark his band's name, The Slants," said the author. "He won in a Supreme Court decision that also revealed structural racism in our judicial system."

The work was recently selected as an Orbis Pictus Recommended Book for Outstanding Nonfiction for Children, was chosen as an honor book for California Eureka! Nonfiction Children's Book Award and is a Junior Library Guild Gold selection.

Wenjen's other children's books are "The Traveling Taco," "Barbed Wire Between Us," "Boxer Baby Battles Bedtime!," "Food for the Future," "Sumo Joe" and "Changing the Game."

Wenjen received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University.
