photoMichael Vanneman '78 received the 2015 People Saving People Award sponsored by the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation. Vanneman performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation, commonly known as CPR, and used an automated external defibrillator on Ira Gura at the San Jose Airport on April 19, 2015. The purpose of the award is to increase awareness about the critical need for bystanders to help in sudden cardiac emergencies. He has saved two people with CPR in 8 months.

Vanneman is trained as a first responder and volunteer firefighter.
