Patricia Rieff Anawalt '57, M.A. '71, Ph.D. '75
Patricia Rieff Anawalt, former chair of Anawalt Lumber, passed away on Oct. 2, 2015 at the age of 91. Anawalt was a prominent anthropologist prior to taking over the family lumber company. She held a doctorate in anthropology from UCLA, and founded the Center for the Study of Regional Dress at UCLA’s Fowler Museum. Anawalt authored several books and was an authority on Mesoamerican ritual and attire.
Patricia Anawalt is survived by her daughter, Katie; two sons, David and Fred; and four grandchildren.
