Penny Poplin Gosetti '76, Ph.D.
Penny Poplin Gosetti '76, Ph.D., Maumee, passed away March 25 at age 71.
After majoring in psychology at UCLA, she earned an M.S. in counseling from Cal State Long Beach and a Ph.D. in instructional leadership from the University of Oregon.
In 1994, she accepted a position in the Higher Education Program at the University of Toledo, beginning a long career as a UT administrator and faculty member. While Poplin Gosetti enjoyed the faculty life, she was drawn to the challenges of academic administration. From 2002 to 2007, the California native served as the executive assistant to two presidents during the merger of UT and MUO.
Poplin Gosetti then moved to the Office of the Provost, where she and several colleagues worked on academic innovations, including the creation of an office to conduct assessment and program review. In addition, she served one year as interim vice president for student life.
