Robert von DassanowskyRobert von Dassanowsky ’85, M.A. ’88, Ph.D. ’92, has been selected by the Salzburg Institute to be its 2018 Visiting Scholar and will also present two lectures as part of the University of Salzburg’s eminent Salzburger "Hochschulwochen" Lecture Series. Dassanowsky earned his Ph.D. at UCLA in Germanic Studies in 1992 and returned as Visiting Professor in 2006-07. He is currently professor of German/Austrian studies and visual and performing arts, and is director of the film studies program at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. His books include “Austrian Cinema: A History” (2005), “New Austrian Film” (2011), “World Film Locations: Vienna” (2012), “Quentin Tarantino’s Inglourious Basterds: A Manipulation of Metafilm” (2012) and the forthcoming “Screening Transcendence: Film under ‘Austrofascism’ and the Hollywood Hope 1933-38” (2018).
