“Books With a Purpose” is a virtual discussion group open to UCLA Bay Area Bruins and the University of Penn Club of Silicon Valley members. Discussions will mainly be based on books (and, at times, lengthy articles or other media chosen by the group) that will help us become more educated about timely events.

Our upcoming book is “The New Jim Crow” by Michelle Alexander, a civil rights litigator and scholar who puts the entire criminal justice system on trial. This book lit the fire of Black Lives Matter and gives insight into the phenomenon of mass incarceration.
