Join the Daily Bruin Alumni Network for a conversation with Robert Faturechi ’08, who won a Pulitzer Prize in national reporting this year for a series delving into three deadly accidents in the Navy and Marines. Faturechi and two colleagues at ProPublica spent a year and a half investigating what led to the deaths of 17 sailors and six Marines, finding leadership failures at the highest levels of the organizations contributed to the preventable crashes.
Faturechi has been with ProPublica since 2014 and previously worked at the Los Angeles Times and Sacramento Bee. While at the Daily Bruin, he served as investigations editor and wrote a series uncovering preferential treatment at the UCLA School of Dentistry given to relatives of donors.
