Together, African American Studies, American Indian Studies, Asian American Studies and Chicana/o Studies are collaborating to host the 2nd Ethnic and Indigenous Studies Welcome to be held tentatively on Monday, October 1, 2018 from 4:30 – 6:30PM James West Alumni Center Collins’ conference room. The current date/time is still being reviewed by all the units. The Ethnic and Indigenous Studies Welcome is open to all students, alumni and Bruin affiliates and anticipates more than 200 folks cumulatively gathering for the event, including prospective and continuing students, faculty and staff. As an opportunity to work collaboratively with the ethnic and indigenous units, it is a collective strategy of reaching students early and engaging current students. The purpose is to expose new and current students to the ethnic and indigenous studies academic and organized research units and co-curricular opportunities available. We plan on building up from the inaugural 2017 welcome to include additional units, including UCLA Alumni Diversity Programs, Labor and Workplace Studies and Gender Studies.
