Date and Time

Nov. 8, 2021, 5:30 p.m. PST

Advocacy is a critical component of UCLA’s history and continued success. The UC Advocacy Network (UCAN) is a digital grassroots community operated by the UC Office of the President that focuses on issues that matter to UC staff, students, alumni, faculty and more. UCAN launches state and federal campaigns that make it easy for anyone to call, email, and tweet at lawmakers. UCAN advocates have helped UC receive its highest level of state funding ever and played a key role in getting Congress to introduce a bill to double federal financial aid through the Pell Grant program.

Join us to learn how you can advocate on behalf of UC and gain insight into current issues in higher education.

Meredith Turner is the associate director of advocacy and institutional relations for UCOP State Governmental Relations. She spearheads strategic advocacy campaigns for the state budget, legislation and university initiatives. She is a proud alumna of UC Santa Cruz.

Nicole Carlotto is the director of communications and advocacy for UCOP Federal Governmental Relations. She helps amplify the voices of UC advocates in Washington, D.C., including leading the UC’s federal UCAN engagement. She is a proud alumna of UC Berkeley.

Jennifer Brice ’18 is the advocacy and communications manager for UCOP State Governmental Relations Office. She helps lead and execute advocacy efforts supporting the UC and works with students across the system to elevate their voices in Sacramento. She is a proud alumna of UCLA.
