Orange County Network: Lyon Air Museum
November 28 @ 10:30 am PDT
Flying Fortresses, Mustangs, WWII Jeeps and Motorcycles at the Lyon Air
Museum This is the last meetup in our Planes, Trains, and Automobiles themed events!
Join fellow UCLA alumni, friends, and families at the Lyon Air Museum, a
hangar on the west side of John Wayne Airport filled with World War II-era
aircraft, military vehicles, motorcycles and classic cars.
Walk beneath the wings of the B-17 Flying Fortress “Fuddy Duddy,” a VIP
transport in the Pacific at the end of World War II. See a B-25 Mitchell, the
bomber type best known for the daring Doolittle Raid of April 18, 1942.
Nearby is the P-51D Mustang “Sierra Sue II,” one of the war’s most effective fighters. The collection also includes the DC-3 “Flagship Orange County,” the airliner that made air travel profitable, plus a C-47 Skytrain, an A-26 Invader and a classic Stearman biplane. With military motorcycles, Jeeps, and cars parked among the planes, it’s a planes-and-automobiles stop in one.
Make it a full morning: start with coffee at our Bruin Brew at the nearby Lion & Lamb Coffee Roasters (8:30 to 10am), then explore the hangar with fellow Bruins from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Bruin Brew is a separate event, so please also register for the coffee social!
PLEASE NOTE:
- Self-Pay Admission: This event is free to register. Museum admission is
purchased individually: $15 general, $13 seniors and veterans, $9 ages 5–17, free under 5 (prices subject to change). Tickets are sold online or at the museum. - Getting There: Take Baker Street east to its end, where it becomes Ike
Jones Road, and follow it to the museum. - Find Us: Look for the OC Bruins name tags!
