Our first book club discussion of the year features a beloved American classic about an impoverished but aspirational adolescent girl and her family living in New York City during the first two decades of the 20th century. Betty Smith’s “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” is a poignant and moving tale of a young girl’s coming-of-age at the turn of the century, filled with compassion and cruelty, laughter and heartache.

We will also be selecting the next three books, so guests are encouraged to bring recommendations.
