Join Bruins for “The Landscape of Startup Funding,” a virtual career panel presented by the UCLA Alumni Los Angeles Westside Network.

Panelists will discuss the past, current, and future landscape of startup funding and what steps startups and founders can be taking in the current climate to best set themselves up for success.

MEET THE SPEAKERS

Melinda Moore is the General Partner at Moore Ventures, an impact venture fund, and the Co-Founder of TuesdayNights. She is an entrepreneur, investor, advisor and global speaker with over 20 years of experience, and two exits (STV Communications and LovingEco). Melinda is the author of “How to Raise Money: The Ultimate Guide to Crowdfunding” and has raised over 100 million via equity crowdfunding. She served as the Senior Vice President for Entertainment Media Ventures. Her work has been widely recognized by Digital LA (Top 50 Digital Women in 2015), the Green Business Bureau and the National Association of Women Business Owners’ Hall of Fame. Melinda serves on the Board of A Sense of Home and has a B.A. from UCLA.

Jason McDowall is a venture partner at female-founder-focused WXR Fund and an active angel investor focused on AR, VR, and computer vision. Earlier in his career, Jason was a serial entrepreneur—first in mobile, later in AI-assisted CRM—and spent several years at Salesforce.com. As a founder and startup executive, he’s helped raise more than $50M in venture capital. He holds an MBA from UCLA Anderson and an MS & BS in Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon.

Morvareed Z. Salehpour is Managing Partner of Salehpour Legal Consulting, a law firm specializing in handling contracts and tech transactions on behalf of clients. She has represented clients across the nation ranging from entrepreneurs and small businesses to Fortune 500 companies and works in a variety of industries, including technology, media and entertainment, and real estate among others. Ms. Salehpour is a graduate of UCLA and UCLA School of Law. Ms. Salehpour is also President of the Santa Monica Bar Association, Board Member of the UCLA Westside Alumni Network, and a regular speaker and writer on tech and business law issues.
