SUMMARY:UCLA Latino Alumni Association Bruins Voices Town Hall: Centering the Latinx Student Experience
DESCRIPTION:The Current UCLA Latinx Students Town Hall creates a space for current Latinx students to share their experiences\, perspectives\, needs\, and aspirations directly with the UCLA Latino Alumni Association (ULAA). The conversation will help ULAA better understand how it can support students through mentorship\, professional development\, community building\, advocacy\, and connections with alumni. The town hall also provides students with an opportunity to build relationships with alumni and help shape ULAA’s future priorities and programs to ensure they reflect the voices and experiences of today’s UCLA Latinx students.

DESCRIPTION:Join in a peer-led discussion on a spooky book for Halloween. This month’s title is “The Secret History\,” by Donna Tartt. \n\n\n\nUnder the influence of their charismatic classics professor\, a group of clever\, eccentric misfits at an elite New England college discover a way of thinking and living that is a world away from the humdrum existence of their contemporaries. But when they go beyond the boundaries of normal morality they slip gradually from obsession to corruption and betrayal\, and at last—inexorably—into evil. (from GoodReads)

We’ll explore practical mindfulness tools and reflective prompts designed to foster resilience\, regulate stress and re-energize focus. The conversation will balance strategy and self-inquiry\, and we’ll ground together in real time through guided breath work\, reflection and visualization. Participants will leave with practical ways to reconnect to their values and sense of purpose\, even when the external environment feels unpredictable.

SUMMARY:Washington D.C. Area Network: UCLA Alumni Recent Grad Mixer
DESCRIPTION:Whether you arrived after graduation or this has always been home\, life after UCLA can make even a familiar city feel new when you see it through a fresh perspective. But there are likely plenty of Bruins nearby — we just don’t recognize one another without our BearWear. Now is the time to change that. Join us for an evening of relaxed fun with the classes of 2023-26. \n\n\n\nThis is as low-key as it gets: no program\, no icebreakers\, and no expectation that you work the room. If you’d rather not walk in alone\, bring a friend — they don’t need to be a Bruin. Drop in for a bit or stay all evening. And if you want a preview\, that’s Astro pictured below — our spot for the evening. Astro gives us two floors to spread out\, plus pool\, darts\, TVs\, lounges and plenty of corners for conversation. Food and beverages will be available for individual purchase\, so grab a local beer or cocktail\, a fried chicken sandwich\, a donut or whatever sounds good while you meet other recent grads who already know at least one chapter of your story. \n\n\n\nMaybe you’ll meet other sports fans to watch a UCLA game with this fall\, find people who want to explore a new local spot in the next few months\, or exchange career tips down the line. Who knows — you might even end up sitting across from one another at a Dinner for 12 Strangers that one of you hosts next February. This could be the start of a circle of Bruins you keep bumping into — and choosing to spend time with. Our greatest hope is that you make friends you like enough to say\, “We should do this again\,” and then actually do it.
