Letter from the ULAA President
Dear UCLA Latino Alumni Association (ULAA) Community,
I write with great excitement and gratitude as the incoming President of the UCLA Latino Alumni Association. I would first like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to our immediate past president, Cesar Pacheco, and the entire board for their dedication, leadership, and many accomplishments over the past year. I also want to recognize and honor all of the leaders who have served ULAA since its founding in 1989. Their commitment and vision have helped build the strong foundation upon which we continue to grow and serve the Latino Bruin community today.
As a first-generation college student and proud two-time UCLA graduate, I am deeply honored to serve this incredible community. UCLA has profoundly shaped my life. It is where I earned my degrees, met my partner, and developed the values and experiences that continue to guide me personally and professionally. Like many of you, UCLA will always hold a special place…

volunteer leadership
The UCLA Latino Alumni Association is a volunteer-led organization. Board positions are open annually in the spring with terms beginning on July 1. Many board members begin their journey as volunteers on one of our committees. We encourage you to get involved as a volunteer to get to know our organization.
Why Volunteer with ULAA:
- Give back and create opportunities: Your time and skills can directly support students and alumni through mentorship, scholarships, professional development, and community programming.
- Build comunidad: Volunteering creates opportunities to meet Bruins who share a commitment to strengthening the Latino community.
- Make an impact beyond yourself: Your involvement helps create the spaces, resources, and connections many of us may not have had as students.
- Use your professional strengths: Whether your skills are in marketing, fundraising, event planning, communications, relationship-building, or student support, there is a place for you.
- Develop leadership: Committees offer a pathway to become more involved in ULAA and help volunteers build leadership experience. Many ULAA board members begin their service as committee volunteers.
If you have any questions about getting involved, please contact us at latino@alumni.ucla.edu.
How each committee creates impact:
Student Success
Supports Latino students through mentorship, campus resources and engagement with scholarship recipients. This is an opportunity to directly invest in the next generation of Bruins.
Alumni Engagement
Builds community by creating opportunities for alumni to connect, reconnect and participate in ULAA programs and events. It helps ensure alumni remain connected to one another and to UCLA.
Fundraising
Helps generate the resources needed to sustain ULAA programs and scholarships. Fundraising volunteers turn community support into tangible opportunities for students and the organization.
Marketing
