UCLA Pilipino Alumni Association
The UCLA Pilipino Alumni Association (PAA) is a vehicle for alumni to meaningfully support the educational, charitable and related activities of UCLA Pilipino students and the Pilipino community at large. Our mission is to connect and empower Pilipino alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends of UCLA. Rooted in culture, community and Bruin pride, PAA brings together alumni across industries and generations to mentor, network, collaborate, and make a meaningful impact together. Through social events, cultural celebrations, career networking opportunities, service projects, and philanthropic initiatives, we’re creating a strong and supportive network that empowers alumni and uplifts current and future Bruins.

Pilipino Alumni Association scholarship endowment
By giving to this scholarship fund, you are continuing our legacy of supporting students. Contributions to this fund are invested with The UCLA Foundation, and guaranteed, annual scholarships are awarded to new and continuing freshmen and transfer undergraduate students at UCLA who have distinguished themselves academically and have demonstrated a history of community service.
Dr. Dawn Bohulano Mabalon ’94, M.A. ’97 was a widely respected UCLA professor whose work and advocacy influenced a re-awakening of Pilipino pride and culture. Dr. Mabalon was born in Stockton, California on August 17, 1972. She attended UCLA as a transfer student and earned her bachelor’s degree (magna cum laude) in history with a specialization in Asian American studies in 1994. She earned her master’s degree in Asian American studies from UCLA in 1997 and her Ph.D. in American History from Stanford University in 2003.
Lovell Sevilla served as a student counselor for the UCLA College Honors Programs for more than two decades. She is remembered for her fierce “warrior” spirit and sincere interest in bettering other peoples’ lives. Lovell earned a bachelor’s degree in history at UCLA, then a master’s degree in counseling from Loyola Marymount University. In 2010, she was awarded the Chancellor’s Excellence in Service Award for expanding diversity in the Honors Programs. She then became the director of counseling for the Honors Programs in 2011. Aside from her formal position at UCLA, she served as a mentor, confidant, aunt, sister and friend to so many Pilipino students during their time at UCLA and beyond.

The Pilipino Alumni Association aims to foster meaningful relationships between alumni and current UCLA students. With a focus on personal and professional development, our goal is to support students in exploring ways to maximize their UCLA experience and prepare for the future.
