Join the UCLA Pilipino Alumni Association (PAA) for their annual Samahang Pilipino Culture Night (SPCN) Alumni Preshow Reception. Connect with fellow Pilipino Bruins at the reception and enjoy reminiscing about past culture shows. This year, SPCN will be celebrating it’s 42nd annual show. We invite all alumni to come out and show support to the event!
The history of Samahang Pilipino’s Culture Nights (SPCN) originates from the Pilipino Far West Conventions held throughout the West Coast during the early 70s and 80s. On the UCLA campus, Samahang Pilipino adopted the educational cultural drama of these Far West Conventions and created cultural presentations that highlighted various community issues and historical events.
The UCLA Mixed Student Union (MSU) was founded in 2010 and was created to foster personal growth and provide a space for students to explore and advocate for their multiracial/multiethnic identities. MSU is proud to be hosting their 7th Annual Mixed Heritage Conference, “Mixed Families: Navigating Relationships and Building Community.” This year’s conference will include workshops, panels, presentations and networking opportunities with members and lead researchers of the mixed community.
Admission to the event is free (RSVP required) and breakfast and lunch will be provided.
The Asian American Studies Department will be partnering with the Asian Pacific Alumni of UCLA and UCLA Alumni Diversity Programs to host their annual career panel that features alumni who majored or studied Asian American Studies to discuss their career paths and trajectories to current students.
