Ron and Pamela Mass

It was a great night with an incredible group of students and professors. Thank you for giving us this opportunity to stay in touch with our UCLA community.

“We always wanted to host since we had a wonderful time as students attending a Dinner for 12 Strangers in the 1970’s. It is such a festive event to wear your blue and gold and root for the school in a home atmosphere. Everyone has a blast regardless of age, major, dorm residence, on campus community or favorite team sport.

The reason that we keep hosting is because as part of our Dinner for 12 Students or Faculty, we enjoy meeting the young students and hearing about what they are doing on campus now in this current time. But with that said, UCLA college students of the 1970’s aren’t so different from today: they are hungry for a good meal, enjoy being in a personal home for a bit, and want to share in the camaraderie of UCLA.

It is probably the most fun evening we have all year. The students like meeting more alumni and have conversations about careers, majors and internships with our guests who are doctors, finance professionals , CPAs, real estate developers, educators, and psychologists.

It is not hard to do, food can be anything from Mexican to Tailgate, home cooked or brought in, the students will eat anything. It is the atmosphere of UCLA that draws us together and we appreciate sharing our young and old experiences together-including the dreaded finals!”

“Thanks a lot for organizing this event and letting me joining as a host. While I was at UCLA, I almost always joined the DF12S, when possible. It’s one of my favorite annual events so I also recommended it to my friends. Because I enjoyed being the guest, as alumni I would like to share the DF12S excitement, as a host now. As a graduate student, I did not know a lot of Indonesian students at UCLA, who are mostly undergraduate students, so this is time to catch it up.”
