ProQuest Research Library
In partnership with the UCLA Library, the Association is pleased to extend remote access to select ProQuest databases (Coronavirus Research Database, Dissertations & Theses @ University of California, Publicly Available Content Database and Research Library) for Sustaining Donors who have made a gift of $100 annually to the UCLA Alumni Association Support Fund. Descriptions of these databases are below:
The ProQuest Research Library is a multidisciplinary database that includes academic journal articles as well as popular trade and consumer publications. With more than 2,500 titles and abstracts such as National Geographic, The New Yorker, Newsweek, PC World, Psychology Today, Sports Illustrated, Time and many more, there is something everyone.
The ProQuest Publicly Available Content Database is designed to complement other databases. This collection of scholarly resources brings together or links to full text for publicly available content from a number of different sources from around the world. Content includes journal articles, pre-prints, dissertations, conference papers and reports.
The Coronavirus Research Database is a free health and medical research database for openly available content related to the COVID-19 outbreak. Including coverage of the COVID-19 outbreak, this database curates openly available content related to coronaviruses. It includes thousands of open-access articles from the world’s leading publishers as well as current research from pre-print repositories such as arXiv and will continue to grow and evolve as more is learned about the pandemic.
The Dissertations & Theses @ University of California database gives access to the dissertations and theses produced by students at your institution.
How do I get access?
If you are already an eligible UCLA Alumni Association Sustaining Donor, you can request an access code by emailing the Association's Member Service team at proquest@alumni.ucla.edu. For verification purposes, please provide your name, Member ID and address in your email.
If you are not an eligible UCLA Alumni Association Sustaining Donor, you can make a qualifying gift of $100 to the UCLA Alumni Association Support Fund by clicking here. If you have questions, please call 310-825-2586 Monday - Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT or email alumni@alumni.ucla.edu.
Are there limits or conditions?
Our contract stipulates that the purpose of access to the service is only for personal use and that users will not unduly exploit the resource by using it for commercial purposes or systematically downloading portions of the file. Therefore we will be requiring all users indicate agreement to these terms before an account password can be provided (by logging in you have consented to these terms).
ProQuest Research Library User Agreement
Terms and Conditions for using the ProQuest Research Library: I understand that I am being granted access to ProQuest Research Library in my capacity as a donor to the UCLA Alumni Association Support Fund or the UCLA Library and that my use of this service constitutes agreement to the following terms of use. I agree that I will use the materials for personal use only and will not sell the content, use it for commercial purposes, or provide my user name and password to any other individual. I understand that any excessive or systematic downloading on my user account may result in my access privileges being revoked. The UCLA Library’s online/off-campus subscription resources (databases, VPN, electronic journals, or e-books) are not available to Association members. The UC campus license agreements restrict off-campus access to current UCLA students, faculty and staff. Special access however is not required to use the UCLA Library Website, the UCLA Library Catalog or Melvyl. The ProQuest Research Library is an additional advantage provided to eligible UCLA Alumni Association Sustaining Donors who may not have access to any of the UC campus libraries. However, I understand that ProQuest is not affiliated with UCLA or the UC Library system.
