My children would love to attend UCLA. Does being an alumnus or a UCLA Alumni Association member give them any advantage in the application process?

Because UCLA is a state-supported school, the Admissions Office cannot take into consideration the alumni status of family members. This policy helps ensure that applicants who may be first-generation college students can compete fairly with those who have UCLA graduates in their family. For more information, please contact the Admissions Office at 310-825-3101.

Who is considered a member of the Alumni Association?

At one time, the Association was a dues-based membership program. Bruins paid dues in order to be considered a Member of the Association. Since then, all UCLA degree holders, those who attended for a minimum of eight quarters, UCLA Extension gold program certificate holders, UCLA Anderson program certificate holders, postdoctoral students, medical school residents and fellows are all considered automatic members of the Association.
