Donna Tetreault '92
A new parenting book by Donna Tetreault '92, "The C.A.S.T.L.E. Method: Building a Family Foundation on Compassion, Acceptance, Security, Trust, Love, Expectations plus Education," with a foreword by Dr. Phil McGraw, will be released on June 21.
Tetreault is a national parenting journalist, an award-winning children's book author, a speaker, an educator and a nonprofit founder. She teaches compassion, emotional health and positive parenting strategies to kids and families nationwide. The book collects research, experience and instruction into seven core building blocks that will guide parents in building a strong family foundation.
Chapter topics are:
- Compassion: Parenting compassionately, having a compassionate mindset—spirituality, apologizing, and forgiving
- Acceptance: Accepting your child and yourself and proactively teaching mental health care
- Security: Building emotional security, encouraging emotional maturity in boys, and handling technology
- Trust: Trusting your child and trusting yourself as a parent
- Love: Loving yourself before teaching your child to love
- Expectations: Understanding harmful versus helpful expectations, practicing optimism, and learning flexibility
- Education: Encouraging lifelong learning, handling homework hassles, and continuing parent education
