Join the Rose Bowl Bruins for a tour of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) - a well-known space exploration facility managed by Caltech in the Pasadena area - with its origins in rocket testing in the Arroyo Seco by the Rose Bowl back in the 1930s. The tour will include JPL's history, a multimedia presentation on JPL's robotic interplanetary explorations, the von Karman Visitor Center, the Space Flight Operations Facility (National Historic Landmark), and the Spacecraft Assembly Facility, among other sites. Some notable spacecraft and rover models may be spotted along the way, too.
Important Info from JPL: The tour is approximately 2.5 hours and includes considerable walking and stair climbing.
Entry to JPL will be denied to anyone without proper identification:
- All US citizens 18 yrs or older must present an official, government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport) to enter.
- All non-US citizens 18 yrs or older must present a passport or resident visa (green card) to enter. A certificate of Covid-19 vaccination attestation form provided by JPL must be reviewed and signed by all attendees 18 years or older before tour check-in is allowed. If not vaccinated and unable to provide proof of a negative Covid-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to the tour, entry to JPL will be denied.
RSVP required. Further details will be provided to registered guests before the tour. If there are questions, please contact Charlotte Tang at cktang@alumni.ucla.edu.
