James LaRoy Moody, M.A. '69James LaRoy Moody, M.A. '69, passing of natural causes on Feb. 20. He was 80.

Moody was a lighting Designer for theater, concerts, and television, amassing more than 6,000 hours of work for television and earning two Emmy nominations and a team Emmy award. He was an author, speaker and, above all else, a leader in his field who championed teaching/mentoring as a way to give back and be of service to the next generation.

After earning his master's degree in theater arts, Moody remained connected to UCLA through the Alumni Association as well as returning in the fall of 1986 as an adjunct instructor in the department of film and television, utilizing the book he authored, "Concert Lighting," as a framework for the course.
