Joyce Javier '97, M.D.
Joyce Javier '97, M.D., has been awarded a $4 million grant by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to fund a study focused on preventing depression and anxiety among Filipino American youth in California.
Javier, who earned her bachelor's degree in physiological science, has master of science and master of public health degrees in addition to her M.D. and is an associate professor of clinical pediatrics at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. She is a primary care pediatrician and physician scientist whose research over the past 16 years has focused on optimizing the well-being of Filipino American youth. In addition to support from the NIH, her work has been funded by the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
