Leana Serey Taing, J.D. '14
Leana Serey Taing, J.D. '14, is a recipient of the 2024 American Bar Association (ABA) "On the Rise – Top 40 Young Lawyers" Award. This prestigious national recognition is awarded to the top 40 young lawyers who demonstrate exceptional achievement, innovation, vision, leadership and commitment to both legal and community service.
Taing is a deputy county counsel with the Office of County Counsel in Los Angeles County. She also teaches legal Writing as an adjunct lecturer at USC Gould School of Law. Taing currently serves on the ABA Council for Diversity in the Educational Pipeline as the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association ("NAPABA") liaison. She is a fellow of the American Bar Foundation. She is the first in her family to go to law school and become an attorney. Her family fled the Cambodian genocide and she later assisted the United Nations in prosecuting Khmer Rouge leaders for crimes against humanity and genocide. Taing earned her B.A. from UC Berkeley.
