Monterey Area Network: 9th Annual Car Week Hike

Please join the Monterey Bruins for a hike in Pebble Beach. We will be on a trail that starts right on the outskirts of the Del Monte Forest. The majority of the hike is a trail that runs alongside 17 Mile Drive but closer to the shoreline. It will be an out and back hike, approximately five miles in total. It is almost completely flat with the exception of a few small sand dunes. It is a unique day for this hike as the gates into 17 Mile Drive are closed that day to tourist traffic due to Car Week activities.

The turnaround point will be the parking area at Bird Rock (although we may turn around sooner depending on the pace). On the return trip, we will stop at the Inn at Spanish Bay to have a post hike social
and listen to their famed bagpiper put the golf course to sleep in the Scottish tradition. From the inn, it will be about a half mile hike back to our starting point.

The meeting point is the trailhead just outside of the Fishwife Restaurant in Pacific Grove. Please arrive early as it is Car Week on the Monterey Peninsula and there will be an extra amount of traffic.
