Orrin John Hubbell ’54

Orrin John Hubbell ’54 passed away March 21, 2016 at the age of 88. Hubbell attended Santa Monica College and UCLA where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Economics and was affiliated with Phi Kappa Psi. Hubbell was drafted after graduation and served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army.

A passionate Bruin, Hubbell was a lifetime UCLA season ticket holder who never missed a game, kickoff or tip-off since 1949. His heroes were John Wooden and Jackie Robinson. Later in life, Hubbell served on the UCLA Foundation’s board of trustees, UCLA’s Chancellor's Associates and as a member of UCLA Baseball’s 10th Player Committee.

Hubbell was a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association and worked with C.A. Larson Investment Company as well as Bank of America. After retiring Hubbell enjoyed many wonderful times with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends at the Bel-Air Bay Club, and many fine days of golf as a member of the Los Angeles Country Club and Marrakesh Country Club in Palm Desert.
