William M. Arnold '75
The Bruin community regrets to inform of the passing of William Meredith Arnold (Yaw Sankofa) on July 25, 2015. After spending his early years in San Diego, Arnold found a home at UCLA where he graduated with a degree in biochemistry. After graduation, he began working for a prominent laboratory in Orange County where he developed a T-3 serum for testing hypertension in children.
Arnold was an entrepreneur and established two business ventures: Imhotep Scientific and Imhotep Construction. He also enjoyed carpentry, traveling and photography.
In the late 1970’s William was recruited by the Pan-African Skills Project to work in Ghana, West Africa. His primary projects were teaching the locals about renewable energy, agricultural expansion and how to develop a fish pond. Arnold later participated in recovery projects in Haiti and a building project in Grenada. His last legacy was re-establishing Africa House, a volunteer organization.
Arnold is survived by his children Angela, Ahmed and Amon Arnold of Los Angeles and a grandchild, Maniya Arnold-Brownlee of Los Angeles. He was also survived by sis siblings, Juanita Alder, Larry Arnold, Lester Arnold and Elvie Eggleston of San Diego; King Truman Arnold and Theresa Arnold of Northern California; and John Arnold of Virginia.
