Allison Silberberg, M.F.A. '87

SilberbergIn January 2016, alumnae Allison Silberberg, M.F.A. ’87 became mayor of the city of Alexandria, Virginia. Silberberg, a democrat, was featured for her accomplishment in a two-page article in American Magazine, the alumni publication for American University where she obtained her undergraduate degree. The newly-appointed mayor also graduated with a master of fine arts from the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television with a concentration in playwriting. She later wrote an episode for the situation comedy “Mama's Family,” titled "Mama's Layaway Plan." The episode debuted on February 11, 1989. Silberberg has also written various articles and books for PBS, the Washington Post, Dallas Morning News and the Society for Women's Health Research.
