Barbara Faye Riegelhaupt J.D. ’84

Barbara Riegelhaupt has influenced the University with her thoughtful, caring approach and positive spirit. Both faculty and students alike applaud her exceptional academic record and strong sense of social responsibility. Riegelhaupt’s scholastic accomplishments have placed her second in her class of 289 students. She was awarded the American Jurisprudence Award for Academic Excellence and her essay on copyright law took first prize in the 1983 Nathan Burkan Memorial Competition. She has been chief articles editor of the Federal Communications Law Journal, in which her comment “The Right of Publicity and the First Amendment” was published.

In the community, Riegelhaupt has given legal counseling to the elderly and has addressed the issue of tenants’ rights. She has been UCLA’s representative on the Los Angeles County Bar Association Law Schools Committee. A frequent contributor to UCLA’s School of Law publication, The Docket¸ Riegelhaupt has written and reported on matters of student concern.

Riegelhaupt has been selected to serve as a law clerk to Judge Frank Coffin of the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
