John L. Johnson '47, M.Ed. '62, Ed.D. '65

John L. Johnson, '47, M.Ed. '62, Ed.D. '65, a football teammate of Jackie Robinson's, an airship pilot in the South Atlantic during World War II, and a star fullback and linebacker after returning from the war, passed away in his sleep October 14 at age 96.
Johnson was an assistant football coach under Red Sanders when UCLA won its only national championship, in 1954, and became the first athletic director and golf coach at Cal State Dominguez Hills in 1968, where he served for 45 years.
